Privacy at Plurderapolis

What this site collects, what it never collects, and the choices you have

Last updated: November 7, 2026

The short version

  • No accounts. This site has no sign-ups, no logins, and no profiles.
  • We never sell personal information, and this site runs no ads.
  • One analytics tool (Google Analytics) counts visits, so we can see which guides people actually use and improve those.
  • One form. The anonymous tip form is the only form on the site, and it has no name, email, or contact fields at all.
  • Some tools save settings in your own browser, on your own device. That data never reaches us.

The rest of this page explains each of those in plain language. For the site's terms and health and legal disclaimers, see the Legal & Disclaimers page.

Visiting the site: hosting

Plurderapolis.org is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub's servers receive your IP address and basic browser information in order to deliver the page you asked for and to keep their service secure. That handling is covered by GitHub's privacy statement, not by us: we do not run the servers and we do not receive their server logs.

Analytics and cookies

Most pages load Google Analytics 4. Google sets cookies (the _ga cookies) so visits can be told apart and counted. Google uses your IP address to estimate a general location; Google states that IP addresses are not stored in Analytics reports.

What we can see is counts and patterns: which pages get visited, roughly which region visitors are in, what type of device they use, and how they found the site. We use that to decide which pages to fix or expand first. We do not use analytics to identify you, it is not connected to your name, and there is no account it could be connected to.

Your choices: you can block cookies or trackers in your browser settings, use a browser or extension that blocks them, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Every page and tool on this site still works with analytics blocked. Google's handling of the data it collects is described in Google's privacy policy.

Fonts and icon libraries

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and an icon stylesheet from Cloudflare's CDN (cdnjs). The venue guide's map also loads its map software from unpkg and its map tiles from CARTO. As with any file download, those services receive your IP address and browser information in order to send the files. They are file deliveries, not accounts or profiles about you.

The anonymous tip form

The Anonymous Tip Line is the only form on this site. It is run through a form service called Formspree, which delivers your tip to our email inbox.

  • The form has no fields for your name, email, phone number, or any account, so we never see that information. All we ever receive is the words you type.
  • What we cannot promise: the page loads the analytics described above, and your tip passes through Formspree, so network-level data (like an IP address) touches systems outside our control. We do not log it, store it, or try to trace it.
  • If you want stronger cover, submit over a VPN or through Tor Browser.

Formspree's handling of what passes through it is covered by Formspree's privacy policy.

Stored on your device only

Some features keep information in your own browser's local storage, on your own device: the hydration and check-in timers, night-out checklist choices, sober tools settings, and the small visit counters shown in the site footer. That information is never sent to us.

The offline bundle works the same way: a service worker saves copies of site pages on your device so they open without a connection. Clearing your browser's site data for plurderapolis.org deletes all of it, including the cached pages.

If you email us

If you write to plurderapolis@gmail.com, we see your email address and whatever you send us, and the message is handled through Google (Gmail) under Google's privacy policy. We do not add you to any mailing list. This site has no newsletter sign-up.

Selling and sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not give anyone outside the Plurderapolis crew access to our analytics. We cannot control lawful requests made directly to Google, GitHub, or Formspree for data those companies hold; their policies describe how they handle such requests.
